'Dognapper' Steals NYC Dancer's Maltese
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
An East Side exotic dancer, whom some would call a stripper, has been stripped of her two canine companions. Daisy Rojas is howling mad that a "dognapper" pinched her two pooches, Charlie and Darwin. "I'm helpless without them. My dogs are everything to me," she said. The two dogs are Maltese. One is 5 ? and the other is 6-years old. They were expensive little balls of fluff, one costing $3,500, and the other $4,000. It happened Saturday evening, outside the restaurant Sofrito on East 57th in Manhattan. Daisy told CBS 2 she did what she frequently does, attached the dogs' leashes to the scaffolding outside the restaurant, then went inside for a bowl of soup. When she came back out 30-minutes later, the dogs had disappeared. "I was numb. I can't tell you the feeling. I don't, I didn't believe they were gone. I was like, no way," Rojas said. Daisy, who is 31, and works at the nightclub Scores, said she loves her dogs so much, she had their names tattooed a few inches below her waistline. The two dogs have been implanted with tiny microchips for identification with a scanner. As for leaving the dogs outside, she knows she made a mistake, which other dog owners say they never do. "What a shame, shouldn't do that, ever," one dog owner told CBS 2. Daisy posted flyers in her neighborhood, offering a reward, hoping someone blows the whistle on whoever did it. If you know who did it, or have any information that may lead to the dogs' rescue, you can contact Daisy by calling 646-327-7547 or 646-425-8089.
