Police on Long Island are searching for a hit-and-run driver who killed a 46-year-old father of two.
John Deiker was riding his motorcycle Sunday when he was hit by a car just six houses away from his front door in Franklin Square.
He was not wearing a helmet.
His family had been waiting at home for him to take them to the Radio City Christmas Show.
"My daughter-in-law met me and she said, 'He's gone.' It felt like someone punched me in the stomach," said John Deiker Sr., the victim's father.
There are no suspects in the hit-and-run at this point. Detectives are looking for a 1991 to 1996 Buick Century that fled the scene.
"He took my son, my daughter-in law's husband! He took my grandchildren's father, he took my daughter's brother," said Virginia Deiker, the victim's mother.
