Authorities say several feral cats have been found beaten, burned and mutilated in the Bronx.
Now city officials, animal welfare organizations and residents are asking for the police to help determine who is attacking the feral cats of the Woodlawn section.
A resident first reported seeing a gray cat on July 30 skulking along Vireo Avenue near East 233rd Street with a gash across its back.
A couple days later, nonprofit rescue group Animal Nation said a teenager found a 6-month-old brown tabby that had been badly beaten and its tail burned to the bone. Animal rescuers say two other feral cats were discovered with cuts and broken bones.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is investigating.
