Federal lawmakers from New Jersey are pushing legislation they say will bring lower gas prices and less dependence on oil.
Sens. Robert Menendez and Frank Lautenberg, along with Rep. Bill Pascrell, will speak at a Paterson gas station in favor of a Democratic bill that was halted last week by Republicans.
The bill to impose windfall profits taxes on oil companies and end tax breaks was blocked by Senate Republicans.
They argued that punishing Big Oil won't do a thing to lower pump prices.
