Gov. Jon S. Corzine is making good on a pledge to spur the state's economy.
Corzine on Tuesday will sign legislation that gives businesses a $3,000 check for every new employee they hire and keep for a year or longer.
It's all part of a $120 million economic stimulus bill the governor will sign during a daylong forum hosted by the New Jersey Business and Industry Association Tuesday.
The legislation provides grants to businesses for job creation and capital investment.
The initiatives were proposed by Corzine in October as part of a broad economic stimulus plan to help businesses and residents through the financial meltdown affecting the country.
Other components of the package provide additional aid to food pantries, heating assistance and help to those facing foreclosure.
