Elaborate Jailbreak Sparks Manhunt In Elizabeth

ELIZABETH, N.Y. (AP) ― The search continues Sunday for two inmates who broke out of the Union County jail the day before.

The county prosecutor's office says 20-year-old Jose Espinosa and 32-year-old Otis Blunt apparently removed cement blocks from two walls, squeezed through the openings, jumped to a roof top just below, and then made it over a 25-foot-high metal fence.

The men helped cover up their Saturday evening break from the Elizabeth jail by placing dummies under their bed blankets, and hiding the wall holes with magazine photos of bikini-clad women.

Espinosa was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to manslaughter over a 2005 drive-by shooting in Elizabeth. Blunt was awaiting trial for robbery and weapons offenses.
