Bus Tips Over In Adirondacks, Killing 1, Hurting 9
LAKE GEORGE, N.Y. (CBS) ―
Authorities said a bus has rolled onto its side and plowed into a rock ledge on the Adirondack Northway, killing a woman pinned underneath. Nine others have been taken to a hospital, but authorities said their injuries don't appear serious.
State police said the bus crashed around 3:15 a.m. Sunday in the town of Lake George, about 60 miles north of Albany. Police are investigating what caused the wreck.
The woman who died hasn't been identified. State police say she's believed to have been from New York City.
Warren County Fire Coordinator Brian LaFlure tells the Glens Falls Post-Star the nine injured victims were able to walk.
It isn't immediately clear where the bus was going. State police say it was operated by a private company, which hasn't been identified.
As of the last census, Lake George Town had a population of at least 3,578.
