Eight people, including two NYPD officers, were injured after a police car struck another vehicle and several pedestrians on the Lower East Side on June 30, 2009.

At least eight people were injured after a police cruiser collided with another vehicle before striking some pedestrians on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, CBS 2 has learned.
The accident happened about 4 p.m. on E. 5th Street and Avenue D. According to witnesses, the police car was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Avenue D when it collided with a white sedan turning onto E. 5th Street. It is not known which vehicle was at fault in the collision.
Officials say when the cruiser hit the sedan, it spun onto the sidewalk and struck several pedestrians. Blood could be seen on the sidewalk where the pedestrians were struck.
Two officers, three people from the white sedan, and three pedestrians were all transported to local hospitals. Five of the injured are said to be in serious condition.
