NEW YORK (CBS) ― At least eight people were injured after a police cruiser collided with another vehicle before striking some pedestrians on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, CBS 2 has learned.

The accident happened about 4 p.m. on E. 5th Street and Avenue D. According to witnesses, the police car was traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Avenue D when it collided with a white sedan turning onto E. 5th Street. It is not known which vehicle was at fault in the collision.
