Morry's Stories: Longtime CBS 2 Reporter Retires

 A Morry Story Retrospective

Morry Alter

Morry Alter retired November 10, 2006, after 23 years at CBS 2 News, the final stop in a four decade-long career as an electronic journalist.

After graduating from the University of Iowa -- his hometown is Davenport -- Morry pursued a career in a craft he would ultimately master in the nation's largest media market. His road to New York took him through San Diego, Washington and Miami. He joined the CBS 2 news team in 1983.

Morry anchored the CBS 2 morning news from 1993 to 1995. He produced and hosted a well-received series of half-hour specials, "CBS 2 Salutes Our Schools." In recent years he regularly contributed to the Sunday edition of CBS 2 News This Morning. His series of "Morry Stories" profiled people, places and trends throughout the Tri-State area produced fascinating and memorable television moments. Morry has collected more than 20 Emmy Awards for writing, reporting, and anchoring, in addition to numerous press and wire service recognitions.

Morry estimates he has done more than 3,000 stories for CBS 2. His work is as poetic as it is profound; as profound as it is prolific. Click on the video player above to view what Morry chose as his all-time favorites. Click on the links below to see his work from the past couple of years.
