The sister of the woman accused of hiring the gunman that killed her estranged husband at a Queens playground in October has been accused of threatening the victim's brother, sources tell CBS 2's Scott Weinberger.
Natella Borukhova was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with intimidating a witness in a homicide investigation after allegedly telling the brother of Dr. Daniel Malakov that he would meet the same fate as his murdered brother if he didn't keep quiet during the case against his estranged wife, Mazeltov Borukhova.
Malakov was gunned down on Oct. 28 while dropping his 4-year-old daughter off to Mazeltov. Police first arrested Mikhail Mallayev, Mazeltov's uncle, and pegged him as the gunman in the murder.
Earlier this month, police announced murder charges against Mazeltov, charging her with hiring Mallayev to kill her husband. She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Mazeltov also told CBS 2 during the time of her arrest that she did not kill her husband and was "absolutely" shocked by the turn of events. She was remanded to Rikers Island, the same jail which houses the alleged shooter police say she hired.
Gavril Malakov, the victim's brother who police say was the target of Natella Borukhova's alleged threat, had suspected his brother's wife was behind the killing from the start. After learning of her arrest, he had this to say to her: "I cannot believe you think America is so stupid, so dumb, that nobody is ever going to get caught."
