CBS 2 E-Mails On Michael Jackson's Death

Viewers Send Us Their Thoughts On The Passing Of The King Of Pop

(CBS) Michael Jackson's death stirred his millions of fans around the world. Vigils and celebrations of his life and musical genius were held from the streets of Harlem to Hong Kong to Rome. CBS 2 HD and WCBSTV.com wants to know what your favorite memories of the King of Pop are. Here are some of the many responses we've gotten.

"I am 50 years old and I remember Michael Jackson when he was a young boy with the Jackson 5, to his great height of stardom in the 1980's. My favorite songs were in his Thriller Album, which I still have. His songs had good notes, harmony, and lyrics. He was way ahead of his time. He changed rock and roll, plus he persuaded people to accept people with different cultures and backgrounds. He was an musical inspiration. My wife and I played his songs at our wedding reception two years ago. Our condolences and sympathies to his family and loved ones. He still had years left in him to move forward with his life. He was one of the few who pursued his life's happiness in his gifts of talent, in which the most fulfillment of life is in enjoying what you do well. That was his destiny as an individual. He left the world before his time. It is a tragic loss.
- Stephen Coston, Montvale, New Jersey

"My most condolences to the Jackson family. It has been a very hard and difficult just to think and trying to accept that my wonderful Michael is no longer with us. I pray for him that he will have a place in heaven where he will be able to sing for all the angels and our Lord Christ, with no more suffering or accusations of any kinds. May you rest in peace my childhood friend. I'll always remember and love you always and for ever.
- Elizabeth Garcia, Greenville, SC

"Mike was a drug addict which was permitted by his practitioner. His song "Man In The Mirror" helped me to change my life from what it was then. It was like brain washing me to not do what I was doing at the time. His music, yes, was inspirational, but Michael is not God. He was a mortal just like the rest of us. RIP Mike Jackson."
- James, Westchester

"I will remember Michael for his magical dancing skills and his ability to write music as well as books. My favorite song would be, "I'll Be There!" We are from the same generation, I am so thankful to the Lord God for blessing our world with Michael Jackson! Gone but never forgotten! Lots Of Love.
- Brenda G. Partridge-Brown, Stone Mountain, Georgia

"Michael was a talented and gifted person. He has given a lot of himself to his fans. His music will always be remembered. My favorite song was "Will you be there." I will always remember you, Michael. Rest in peace, you are now free, and no longer in physical pain."

A Moment in Heaven: Imagine God calling everyone for a special meeting in the arena (no one knows the reason why). God comes out and says, 'I have a special concert for you today'... Just because he is one of our greatest Black Icons. My favorite song is One Day in Your Life which I sung at karaoke about 2 months ago and the DJ did not remember this beautiful song. I will miss Michael Jackson. I was in shock when I heard the news of his death. May you rest in peace and continue your music up in heaven. The 'Moonwalk' was an awesome move. You will be deeply missed.
-Suzie McLoskey, Franklin, NJ

What a shock losing the 'King of Pop'. My biggest memory is seeing him perform live on the Motown Anniversary Special. I also remember his videos, especially 'Thriller' and 'Billie Jean'. His musical talents were superb. Sadly, he had to battle personal demons so his career went downhill but fans will always recall how we grew up with his talent and his peaceful and kind nature. He will be remembered always. Condolences to his family. Michael, we loved you !
-Myron, Brooklyn, NY

I was shocked first watching CBS2 News, I heard he had a cardiac arrest, was not breathing and was rushed to the hospital, than it was told he was in a coma than 2 minutes I hear that he died it was sad I was crying as if it was a close family member who died. I grew up listening to Michael Jackson in the 80's Thriller was my first album. I always wanted to see him in concert, but never got the chance. The most memorable performance was on the American Music Awards and he did Billie Jean that was amazing, Thriller was a awesome video. My favorite songs was Beat It, Billie Jean and Thriller but just to name a few. I will never forget him, he should be known for the good he has done around the world, no negativity.
-Michelle Lans, Westbury, NY

-Paulette Gonsalves, Brooklyn, NY

I am from Michael's era, he brought to that era such vitality and electricity in his music coupled with his great performance. Michael has touched the lives of every young person in those times. His fame had transcended boundaries and territories. As a young girl from the Caribbean, Michael has been my idol. He was a gift from God, loan to the world, now call back home. I pray that he made amends with his maker before his great homecoming.
-Alicia Williamson, NY

I will remember the talent and legacy of music that he has given to the world.
-Rose Levy, Wantagh, NY

I will remember Michael Jackson for EVERYTHING, the moonwalk, his dancing, his singing, his kindness, his childhood, everything. All of his songs were my favorite, i'd always play them , You Rock My World, Bad, Break Of Dawn, Butterflies, Dirty Diana, 3000 Watts, Black or White, You Are Not Alone, Privacy, Beat It, Billie Jean, everything. My Mom and Dad always heard me playing his music, i even dressed up like him *laughing*, he's just so cool. I miss him. I cried when I found out the news. I can't believe this happened. 'The King Of Pop',a legend. Everytime I saw his vides, i follow the way he danced, he put a smile on everyones face. Even when they said negative things about him, i was one of them who didn't care because he was just THAT GOOD! I'm saddened and we are all filled with sorrow. He WILL ALWAYS be remembered. He might not come back to earth, but he never left us, he never will. He will continue to live on for centuries and more....... :-( (prayers go out to his family, friends, and fans) WE LOVE YOU MICHAEL JACKSON AND WE MISS YOU!!!!!!!!!! *My Idol*

-Cheryl D. Shuler, Bronx

A truly gifted, talented, big hearted person who lived for his fans.I will always treasure seeing the Jackson 5 in Westbury in the mid '70's. They are all favorites - but at this time the one that comes to mind is 'You are not alone'. My prayers go out to his family, friends and fans today.
-Adrienne, Woodland Park, NJ

My favorite Mike moment is during Motown 25th Anniversary special when Michael said, '...I like the new songs' before breaking into the infamous 'Billie Jean' routine.
-Monique Franz, Discovery Bay, Hong Kong

I was 15 at the time so the year must have been 1969/1970. The Jackson 5 played at what was once called called the HIC (Honolulu International Center) Arena and my brother surprised me with FRONT ROW tickets. Seeing them in person was phenomenal and something that I will NEVER forget. I might add that I also saw him at the Aloha Stadium years later, but again, nothing like the first time! Now, my 3 children know ALL of the J5 songs and are equally saddened.
-Deb Tompkins, Honolulu, Hawaii

His performance at the 1993 Super Bowl in Pasadena. The crowd - not your typical MJ audience - was spellbound. He put on a short, but incredible performance.
-John Loveland, Chevy Chase, MD

'Do you remember the time when we fell in love?' I will never forget him doing the moonwalk at the Motown Records 25th anniversay on live TV. I was 12 years old and have been a fan ever since. 'I just can't stop loving you!'
-David, Las Vegas, NV

I went to see the Jackson 5 at the Nanuet Theater Go-Round, in Nanuet, NY, in 1973. He was an amazing artist, and superstar in everyway. He had more talent in his pinky, than most of today's entertainers have in total. I will remember him as a flawless dancer, singer and showman. A real tragedy.
-Joe, Los Angeles, Calif.

I will remember going to the Bad Concert when he came to Houston when I was little. I will remember how his music uplifted me and many others. My favorite songs are Rock with You and Butterflies. I will miss Michael Jackson greatly. He was a kind spirit that was often misunderstood.
