Missing N.J. Inmate Found On Roof Of Jail
NORTH BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBS) ―
A man who went missing at the Middlesex County Jail this week has been found -- in the ductwork of the facility.
Missing inmate Timothy Petties was removed from the roof and taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for treatment. His injuries have not been disclosed.
Petties, 20, went missing before the 10 a.m. headcount at the 1,300-bed correctional facility on Tuesday.
The New Brunswick native was in jail for aggravated assault, resisting arrest and contempt of court, awaiting a court appearance.
Authorities believe Petties was trying to escape. Warden Edmund Cicchi said that they believed Petties was in the ducts all along, but could not find him in two days of searching.
Petties' family told CBS 2 HD that he was in a special unit for a life threatening medical condition that would make an escape attempt very unlikely.
