If it's possible for straphangers to reach their wits' end with the MTA, that time might be now after news has surfaced that the transportation authority might be looking to cut service and raise prices.

Cash-strapped straphangers are railing against the proposed Metropolitan Transportation Authority cuts. They're furious that once again it's going to cost them in fares and service -- to get the MTA back on track.
"Guess I'm gonna have to allow for more time in the morning," said one rider, echoing a general theme that seemed to be the talk of the New York City streets on Tuesday.
This and thousand more W subway riders are going to have to look for a new route to work. The MTA is expected to cut a handful of bus and subway lines including the Z and W lines.
"That's not gonna help me cause I need to get to certain stops in Midtown that only the W goes to," said Chris Kuty of Astoria.
The possible cuts would also lead to only half as many of the G and M trains running.
"I think they should look to cut the bureaucracy, not the service to the customers," said Pamela Edwards of East Harlem.
"I just feel that we don't get enough service for the prices they want," added Tina Sweeney.
"I think it's lousy," chimed in another rider.
The changes are going to lead to longer waits, crowded trains, and there is even talk of fares being increased to $3.
"Two dollars a trip is good enough a price for a trip," said Anna Cooper of Flatbush. "If it goes any higher you might as look into buying a car."
Subway passengers can also expect fewer trains in the middle of the day and between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.
