Scott Banks, Nashon Brown Charged With Murder, Conspiracy & Weapons Offenses In Friday's Shootings That Killed 2
NEWARK (CBS/AP) ―
Two reputed gang members suspected of killing two people and wounding another in a drive-by shooting spree in Newark entered not guilty pleas Wednesday.
Scott Banks and Nashon Brown are charged with murder, conspiracy and weapons offenses in last week's shootings.
Brown also entered a not guilty plea for additional murder and weapons charges resulting from the Oct. 18 slaying of an East Orange man inside a Newark clothing store.
The 20-year-olds remain held $1 million bail each.
The string of shootings occurred in a span of about 30 minutes at four locations within about a mile of each other. Mayor Cory Booker described them as targeted assassinations.
