Authorities are searching for two men who escaped from the Union County Jail in Elizabeth.
The two were identified as 20-year-old Jose Espinosa of Elizabeth and 32-year-old Otis Blunt of Toms River.
Union County Prosecutor Theodore Romankow said the pair apparently jumped from a third-floor roof after removing two cinder blocks in the jail wall. The escape was reported about 6 p.m. Saturday.
Espinosa, a Bloods gang member, pleaded guilty earlier this year to aggravated manslaughter for killing a man in a drive-by shooting in Elizabeth. He was awaiting sentencing.
Blunt was awaiting trial on robbery and weapons charges.
A police canine unit is assisting in the search.
