NYC Team To Help With California Wildfires
NEW YORK (AP) ―
New York City is sending a team of firefighters and emergency managers to help California with the wildfires disaster.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Thursday that he had called Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office to offer the assistance.
Bloomberg said: "I offered anything that we can do. ... California was there on 9/11 and we certainly should be for them."
The team will be in California for up to two weeks.
The Office of Emergency Management delegation includes experts in planning, sheltering, search and rescue, logistics and human services.
