Off-Duty NYPD Cop Found Dead; Suicide Suspected

NEW YORK (AP) ― An off-duty New York City police officer has been found dead in a park, and police suspect he shot himself with his own gun.

New York City police aren't releasing the officer's name, but said the 21-year-old man had been with the 115th precinct in Queens for just a few months.

His body was found at about 8 a.m. Monday in Poppenhusen Park in the College Point section of Queens.

Police suspect the officer died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
