NYPD Traffic Agent Arrested In Club Cash Theft
NEW YORK (AP) ―
A New York Police Department traffic agent has been accused of stealing thousands of dollars of vending machine revenue meant to fund activities for her co-workers.
Prosecutors say 48-year-old Bronx resident Jacqueline Davis turned herself in Thursday and pleaded not guilty to charges of grand larceny and forgery.
Prosecutors say Davis had been the treasurer of the Manhattan Tow Pound command club, which uses the vending machine revenue to help pay for employee events. Davis is accused of withdrawing more than $4,500 from the club account.
Authorities say the theft was discovered after an audit and an Internal Affairs Bureau investigation.
Telephone messages left for Davis' union and lawyer haven't been returned.
