Jet Ski Crash On L.I. Kills Father, Son
LAWRENCE, N.Y. (CBS) ―
A young boy has succumbed to his injuries from a jet ski accident that also killed his father.
The pair were out on the water, when their watercraft slammed into a dock in Lawrence.
The child was pronounced dead at the Nassau University Medical Center early Sunday morning.
"It was the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life," one witness said.
Boaters saw the collision just after 5 p.m. Saturday night. "They obviously hit the dock at high speed," said Paul Strader.
Witnesses saw Roopnarine Gopaul lose control of the Yamaha jet ski behind the home at 232 Causeway, called 911 and rushed to help. The boy was airlifted to the hospital, but it was too late for the father.
"We had to lift the dock, break it apart to lift it off of them and get child out first," Strader said.
