Driver Racks Up Almost $33,000 In Unpaid Tolls
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
It's a record no other New York driver can match: Almost $33,000 in unpaid tolls.
A Weehawken, N.J. woman has been accused of skipping tolls more than 1,000 times.
Now the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey wants her to pay up.
As part of its crackdown on toll beaters, the agency is seeking $32,879 from Catherine Cappelluti.
Cappellutti received 361 citations between 1998 and 2004, according to a judgment against her in a Bergen County court. They show the 38-year-old owes the incredible sum for not paying to use the Port Authority's E-ZPass lanes.
Cappulletti said she's innocent and blamed her ex-boyfriend for being the toll cheat.
