Foreclosure Fat Cat Has New Home, Put On Diet

44-Pound Feline Doesn't Have Thyroid Condition

BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) ― There's happy news about New Jersey's famous fat cat. The 44-pound feline found wandering around alone in Voorhees is healthy and no longer homeless.

A vet who's checked out "Prince Chunk" says the obese cat does not have a thyroid condition and has been put on a kitty version of the Atkins diet to help shed some flab with his fur.

And soon enough, he'll have new friends to hopefully get some exercise with. A South Jersey family that already has two cats has been chosen for his new home.

The cat, originally named "Princess Chunk" when it was thought he was a she, was left homeless after his owner lost her home to foreclosure.

More than 100 people applied to adopt the cat, who became a national sensation when he was featured on numerous news programs and talk shows.
