Education officials announced $52 million in funding to soundproof a Queens school building located on the flight path to John F. Kennedy International Airport.
The project will provide news windows, heating and air conditioning as well as exterior work to the building. Two high schools are housed in the space.
The funding comes from state and federal transportation administrators under a noise-reduction program.
Any school located near a sound path that exceeds 65 decibels inside its classrooms - the level at which normal conversations would be disrupted - may apply to the program.
It wasn't clear when construction would begin on the building.
