A truck exploded in an alley in a Queens neighborhood Thursday morning rattling the nerves of residents and leaving several windows blown out.
The incident occurred about 8 a.m. in an alley near 64th Road and 108th Street in the Forest Hills section. The explosion was so powerful it nearly knocked nearby residents out of their beds and blew out windows in a section of housing near the alley.
"I heard a very loud explosion. I thought it was a car accident," said resident Jay Shasa. "The neighbors window broke, my back door broke, the glass shattered."
CBS 2 HD has learned a portable barbeque grill in the truck containing propane gas leaked into the truck, causing the explosion.
A large number of NYPD and FDNY units quickly arrived on the scene, and were investigating the incident.
No injuries were reported.
