New York City's most famous Christmas tree is so good it's getting a star.
The Norway spruce next to the Rockefeller Center skating rink is being adorned with a spectacular Swarovski crystal star that weighs 550 pounds and is almost 10 feet in diameter.
The star is decorated with 25,000 crystals.
Property owner Tishman Speyer says a massive crane is being used to place the star atop the 72-foot-tall tree on Tuesday.
This year's tree comes from a family in Hamilton, N.J. It was hoisted into place last week.
The tree will be decorated with thousands of colored lights and lit in a televised ceremony on Dec. 3.
The first Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was put up by workers building the complex during the Depression.
