E-mails from Holocaust Memorial Museum shooting suspect James von Brunn indicate that in addition to being a racist, an anti-Semite and a Holocaust denier, he also wrote of his belief that 9/11 was a government conspiracy.
Von Brunn mentioned the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in an e-mail criticizing last month's dueling speeches on national security by President Barack Obama and former Vice President Dick Cheney. He wrote that "all informed men" know Sept. 11 was "a USA-Israel inside job."
Von Brunn sometimes sent several e-mails a day to friends and fellow white supremacists. The messages were obtained by The Associated Press from William B. Fox, who was on von Brunn's e-mail list.
Suspicion of government involvement in the Sept. 11 attacks has grown more widespread. A 2006 poll by Scripps Howard and Ohio University found that 36 percent of Americans believed the government played some role in the attacks.
Von Brunn faces charges in the murder of 39-year-old museum guard Stephen T. Johns.
Police said von Brunn remained in critical condition early Friday at a Washington hospital. He was shot in the face in an exchange of gunfire with other guards.
