Snowy Forecast Cancels NYC Subway Track Work
NEW YORK (AP) ―
The snowy weather forecast over the weekend has caused the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to cancel most scheduled weekend maintenance on New York City's subways.
The MTA issued a statement Friday saying work on most city subway lines has been canceled. That includes ongoing work on the No. 7 line from Times Square to Flushing, Queens. Train service is expected to run on a normal schedule, weather permitting.
Subway lines such as the Rockaway, Sea Beach, Brighton and the Dyre Avenue segments are very vulnerable to snow and ice.
Express service on some subway lines may be affected because the train cars are moved from outdoor yards to underground storage when heavy snow is forecast.
