A Connecticut man is accused of stealing and crashing a police cruiser in a New York City suburb.
Westchester County police say Lawrence Sanchez, of Stamford, Conn., crashed the car Thursday morning on the Hutchinson River Parkway in New Rochelle.
Police say the car was stolen in Mount Vernon after Sanchez was observed acting erratically.
When a county police officer reached inside to stop him, police say Sanchez drove off and rammed into another police car before taking off again.
Police say Sanchez challenged to fight officers who tried to arrest him. Police used a Taser stun gun to subdue him.
Sanchez is awaiting arraignment on charges of attempted murder, driving while intoxicated, assault and grand larceny; the district attorney's office did not know if he has a lawyer.
