Hundreds of NYC subway cars will soon have advertising that lists calorie counts, much like in restaurants.

If you think there's already plenty of advertisements in New York City's subway system, you haven't seen anything yet.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority plans to sell the interiors of subway tunnels, space on turnstiles and the outer facades of subway cars to advertisers. There will also be digital screens inside stations and projections against subway station walls. The ads in inner subway tunnels will appear animated -- much like a flip book -- when seen through windows.
Transit authority spokesman Jeremy Soffin says the agency is "basically look under every rock" for ways to cut costs and raise revenue. The MTA has a $900 million budget gap.
But critics say there's already too many advertisements in the subway system.
