A police officer in suburban New York hosting a Sweet 16 birthday party for his daughter had to call police himself after celebrants began brawling and gunfire rang out.
Police say as many as 200 people fought in the streets Friday night outside the Knights of Columbus convention hall in Tarrytown, which is across the street from the mayor's house.
Police officers from six nearby agencies were called to help break up the brawls. Officers recovered four shell casings from bullets that shattered the windows of a parked car.
Tarrytown police say it appears that "outside individuals" crashed the party that Officer Brent Gamble was holding for his daughter. They say Gamble called 911 about 10 p.m. after he heard the gunfire.
