Long Island Reports 4th Swine Flu Death
HAUPPAUGE, N.Y. (CBS) ―
Long Island's Suffolk County has recorded a fourth death linked to swine flu.
County health officials said Tuesday the victim, a Smithtown man between the ages of 45 and 55, had underlying medical problems.
Suffolk Health Commissioner Dr. Humayun Chaudhry says the man died Tuesday and had been hospitalized since mid-June.
Suffolk County has 117 confirmed cases of swine flu. Most of those confirmed to have the virus have recovered or are recovering.
As of June 16, New York City had 23 confirmed swine flu deaths.
