More NJ Troops Returning Home From Iraq
TRENTON (CBS) ―
About 240 New Jersey Army National Guard soldiers who served in Iraq are due to arrive back home Tuesday night.
A welcoming ceremony is scheduled at Fort Dix.
The troops were deployed for a year with the 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team.
Some 820 soldiers from the unit were reunited with family members on Friday.
Officials say 2,800 members of the brigade were sent to Iraq in the largest overseas deployment of the New Jersey National Guard since World War II.
New Jersey is planning an official welcome home ceremony on June 12 that will include a parade of the troops through downtown Trenton.
Fort Dix is a major training facility for the Army Reserve and National Guard. It is located south of Trenton.
