Flight Delays Clear Up As Hanna Departs Tri-State

QUEENS (CBS) ― It was not a good day to travel.

Tropical Storm Hanna's heavy rains and powerful winds led to heavy delays at area airports. At one point, flights arriving at JFK were delayed by four hours.

Airport screens told the tough travel tale, as flights that were scheduled to arrive Saturday afternoon instead were arriving well into the night. Travelers had little choice but to watch and wait.

"I had three hours at the airport...terrible," one passenger said.

"Well I don't mind waiting, as long as I'm sitting down. The waiting didn't bother me all that much," said Marianne Izzo, another delayed passenger.

"It could have been avoided. You know customers no longer write anymore – pay your money and suffer," Joe Brown said.

According to the FAA, the massive flight delays were brought to an end late Saturday night, having been reduced to just 15 minutes.
