Water Main Break Closes NJ Turnpike Rest Area
RIDGEFIELD, N.J. (CBS) ―
A water main break has forced officials to temporarily shut down a New Jersey Turnpike rest areas in northern New Jersey.
The break occurred Friday at the Vince Lombardi rest stop in Ridgefield, which is located between Exits 18E and 18W and the George Washington Bridge. The site was expected to be closed until at least 7 p.m., turnpike spokesman Joe Orlando said.
It was not immediately clear what caused the break.
Orlando recommended that drivers traveling northbound on the turnpike use the Grover Cleveland rest area in Woodbridge if they needed fuel or food.
The rest area is named for legendary football coach Vince Lombardi, who was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1913. Lombardi first coached football as an assistant coach, and later head coach, at St. Cecilia, a Catholic high school in Englewood, New Jersey.
