A tanker carrying orange juice collided with a dredging vessel in Newark Bay on Thursday afternoon, the Coast Guard confirmed to CBS 2, causing officials to close the surrounding portion of the bay.
The accident occurred around 2 p.m. near Port Newark between the 669-foot tanker called the "Orange Sun" and the 117-foot vessel, the "New York."
According to the Coast Guard, the vessel is taking on water. A large red crane attached to the ship also became partially submerged into the water and was in danger of sinking.
Five of the seven people on board the "New York" were taken from the scene by another vessel as a precautionary measure.
A large dent can be seen on the bow of the tanker, along with several large black scratches along the side of the ship.
Hydraulic fluid leaked from one of the vessels into the water, but there doesn't appear to be any immediate toxic danger.
No one was injured in the collision.
