A day after prosecutors called Wayne Bryant a "senator for hire," Bryant's lawyer will present the ex-senator's closing arguments to the jury.
Bryant's attorney is expected to argue that while the Democrat's actions may look unseemly, they were not illegal. That's been the core of the defense in the eight-week trial.
Most of the charges against Bryant pertain to the job he took at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey's School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003, when he was one of the most powerful politicians in Trenton.
Prosecutors say the job was really a bribe to bring the medical school more state money.
Bryant is also accused of using another public-sector job to improperly boost his state pension.
