Kunsman's Wife: 'He's Not Capable Of Violence'

Friend Of Slain NYC Therapist Said To Be Stuck Home During Snow Storm At Time Of Murder

NEW YORK (CBS) ― William Kunsman left questioning with police detectives Thursday tired and visibly upset. Things weren't much better on Friday, when the friend of slain Upper East Side psychologist Dr. Kathryn Faughey told CBS 2 it was upsetting to see two NYPD officers sitting outside his home at all times.

Kunsman met Faughey at a guitar camp six years ago, and had maintained a close friendship ever since, e-mailing her in the days before her murder. He was brought into questioning by police early Thursday morning, and his Coplay, Pa. house has turned into a police stakeout and media circus, even after police released him.

But Kunsman denied having anything to with the murder and told CBS 2 he's got nothing to hide and doesn't want an attorney. But his family members also say he has in fact been in touch with attorney and is very concerned.

Kunsman's wife, Lynn, said the attention is taking a toll on her husband, who's unemployed and worried about supporting six children. She doesn't believe her husband could be the vicious killer who hacked Faughey to death with a meat cleaver.

"He's not capable of any kind of violence like that, he's a more laid back, much calmer person. He does have problems with depression but that's nothing like this," she said.

Earlier in the day, Kunsman himself shared pictures with CBS 2 he'd taken of Faughey and her husband, and of the psychologist playing the guitar at a camp where they met.

"It's ridiculous. Going overboard just because they were friends and knew each other and happened to talk the same day," said Lynn Kunsman. "They have records of emails and she was advising him of some of his problems but that was it."

In fact, she says the night of the murder Kunsman was at home.

"He was here, we had a bad snow storm and ice storm -- probably a half-an-inch of ice on the ground -- nobody went anywhere around here that night," she said.

Sources say the officers are remaining outside Kunsman's house while forensic evidence is examined.
