A mugger punched a 62-year-old woman in the face before snatching her purse near the front gates of a Catholic school in Brooklyn.

The mugger hit the woman so hard she fell past the wrought iron gate and landed on the pavement. In full view of the video camera the thief followed his victim in, grabbed her purse and ran. Seeing it is enough to make you sick.
CBS 2 HD obtained surveillance footage of the vicious attack, which occurred Monday around 6:40 a.m. at the Good Shepherd School on 1943 Brown St. in Brooklyn. The woman was accosted by the suspect shortly after parking her car.
"Seeing her fall to the fall, it was just horrible," Joseph Gencarelli said. " My son
that's all he talks about, 'My teacher. My teacher.' Here of all places."
The victim is a 62-year-old math enrichment teacher. She hasn't been back since.
"She's bruised, her whole face is really black and blue. I spoke to her," school custodian Tom Smyth said.
But that's only part of the crime. The assailant ran off. The victim ran across the street to a house to dial 9-1-1 and while she was inside talking to the police he found her keys came back and took her car.
"He really, really hurt her, really pounded her and then to be brazen enough to come back and steal the car
" Kathy Scalamandre said.
The man who did it is about 5-foot-11 and cops think someone must know him. The kids who go to school here know how to characterize what he did.
"I think it's really horrible and it's a sin that this happened," third grader Christopher Caputo said.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
