The Turnpike Series is turning into the Amtrak Series Friday, as the Yankees prepare to board buses headed for Penn Station before catching a train to Philadelphia.
When they come back, faithful fans hope they'll have a World Series trophy in tow.
It's amazing how different the World Series looks tied at one game apiece after a vital win by the Yankees.
Yankees fans all over New York City are still glowing over Thursday night's huge Game 2 victory.
"It's about time Tex hit one, Matsui, so it's good," one fan said. "Great game a lot of energy, the crowd got into it."
"I think it's beautiful they won last night, they gotta do it this year," said another Yankees fan.
They've got to. We're counting on them."
Though this matchup has been dubbed the Turnpike Series, the Yanks will actually take the train to Philly, much as they did the last time the two teams faced off in the World Series in 1950.
The Turnpike promises to be busy this weekend, with not only Yankees fans making the trek down to Philadelphia for Game 3 on Saturday night, but for back-to-back games Sunday. The Giants will take on the Eagles at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field before their baseball counterparts reconvene at Citizens Bank Park for Game 4 of the World Series.
While Phillies fans may have been dreaming of a sweep heading into Thursday night's game, Yankees fans knew better.
"It's huge, it's huge I think it would've been over if they lost last night," said one Yankee fan. "We are back to normal."
Even Phillies fans feel compelled to give a nod to the Yankees' power.
"They're in it. They have a great lineup, they've got good pitching," said a Phillies fan. "It's going to be a good series, [it'll] probably go seven games."
In 1950, when the Yankees went to Philadelphia, they traveled with the Phillies. This year, they're chartering their own private train. Things have changed in some ways, but in others they remain the same after all, the Yankees are in the World Series again.
