The musical heritage of China reaches back a staggering 8,000 years. The Met's exhibition takes in all of China, from the 5th Century to the present. A team effort, the Museum's Musical Instruments Department and the Asian Arts Department picked the 60 objects that they feel best represent the cultures and historical traditions of China.
