Taiwanese prosecutors say they have indicted former President Chen Shui-bian on corruption charges.
Prosecutorial spokesman Chen Yun-nan says the ex-leader has been indicted on charges including forgery and money laundering.
The 57-year-old Chen has been held in a suburban Taipei jail since Nov. 12 pending the results of a prosecutorial probe into allegations that he engaged in money laundering and other corruption offenses during his recently concluded eight years as president.
Friday's indictment is the culmination of that probe.
