The disbarred attorney whose wife was killed after he claimed a gunman burst into his SUV following a car accident last year and shot her to death was arrested and will be charged with her murder, sources tell New York CBS Station WCBS-TV.
Carlos Perez-Olivo, 60, is accused of murdering his wife Peggy Perez-Olivo in the Nov. 18, 2006, incident. The couple were neighbors of Bill and Hillary Clinton in an upscale Chappaqua neighborhood.
Mr. Perez-Olivo was expected to be in court later Thursday and will face charges of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Last December, state police divers found a handgun in Echo Lake, a short distance from the spot where Mr. Perez-Olivo claimed he was forced off the road while driving home from New York City, but it was never announced whether the gun was linked to the crime.
Mr. Perez-Olivo told police a man burst into his Mitsubishi SUV after the accident and opened fire. Mrs. Perez-Olivo died two days later from a gunshot wound to the head. Mr. Perez-Olivo suffered a minor wound to the abdomen.
