Farrah Fawcett To Be Laid To Rest

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― A funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday for "Charlie's Angels" star Farrah Fawcett.

The 1970s icon died Thursday after a long battle with cancer.

She was 62 years old.

Her longtime companion, Ryan O'Neal, and her friend, Alana Stewart, were at her side.

"After a long and brave battle with cancer, our beloved Farrah has passed away," O'Neal said in a statement. "Although this is an extremely difficult time for her family and friends, we take comfort in the beautiful times that we shared with Farrah over the years and the knowledge that her life brought joy to so many people around the world."

Fawcett's Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in downtown Los Angeles is closed to the public and the media.

Fawcett's 24-year-old son Redmond, who is in jail on a pair of drug-related charges is expected to attend the funeral, after a judge granted him permission.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations to support cancer research be made to The Farrah Fawcett Foundation, P.O. Box 6478, Beverly Hills, Calif., 90212.
