Wheelchair Stolen From Pa. Boy With Spina Bifida

UNIONTOWN, Pa. (CBS) ― One community in Pittsburgh is upset after someone stole a custom wheelchair from a young boy who has Spina Bifida.

Isaiah Kiss, 8, and his mother discovered the chair was missing Monday morning. The chair is his only way of getting around, unless he crawls or uses his old chair which he has outgrown.

"I'm just not comfortable," he tells local CBS affiliate KDKA. Isaiah says his mother forgot to lock the garage door.

Since her house has no ramp, she meets his school bus everyday, lifts him out of his wheelchair and carries him inside the house.

"I went to put him on his bus yesterday morning and .. I carried him out to put him in his wheelchair and the wheelchair was gone," Traci Kiss, his mother, said.

The chair was only a year old and specially-equipped for him.

"He has to be sized and he has one hand so, you know, they have certain things for him to push himself," Kiss said. "If ithey didn't ruin it or anything I would like to have it back. He can't get around without it. He can't go to school, he crawls. I would like somebody to return it."

A local Lion's Club in Uniontown is accepting donations to help Isaiah get a new chair.
