If you don't fit comfortably into an Airplane seat get ready to pay big, reports CBS station WBZ-TV in Boston.
United Airlines is now enforcing new weight restrictions on their flights.
They will be charging larger passengers to pay for another seat, at the same price, on another flight.
"I don't think that's too fair," says Conner, who travelled to Boston from Denver.
Normally a larger guy, like Conner, buys a first class ticket to avoid
the issue. But on this day, his company only paid for one coach ticket.
If the flight is full, and they can't move him to two open seats, Conner may have to move to a different plane.
"Well, I suppose if you are the person sitting next to them, that makes sense," says Bill Hogan.
United released this statement to us saying quote:
"Please understand that we care a great deal about all of our customers
well being, and we have implemented this policy to help ensure that
everyone's travel experiences with United are comfortable and
pleasant."
But some wonder, why not make an uncomfortable situation a bit better by offering a better deal?
"Buying an extra ticket shouldn't be at full price. There should be an
extra charge. It sounds awful but what are you going to do?" says Robin
Serra from Boston.
The flight attendants on the plane will make the determination once the
passengers are in their seats. United said 700 people e-mailed them
last year complaining about the larger person sitting next to them on a
flight.
