Dog Food Recalled From Wal Marts In 6 States

Manufacturer Says Food May Be Contaminated With Salmonella

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) ― A Virginia company is recalling bags of dry dog food sold at Wal Marts in six states.

Doane Pet Care says some 55-pound bags of its Ol' Roy Complete Nutrition dog food may be contaminated with salmonella.

The company says the recall affects a single batch produced at a plant in Manassas, Virginia, and distributed to 69 Wal-Mart stores in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Ohio.

The company says consumers should check for a specific code number (04 0735 1) and an April 13, 2008, freshness date.

Doane Pet Care says no illnesses have been reported. It also points out that there's no connection to the recent national pet food recall linked to an industrial chemical.

In that case,
