President Barack Obama is planning a White House event for Friday to name the members of his Economic Recovery Advisory Board and outline its mission.
White House spokeswoman Jen Psaki says Obama will make the announcement alongside Paul Volcker, the chairman of the special White House panel focused on the recession.
The panel is aimed at helping the president bring stability to the financial markets and create jobs.
Obama has said the board will offer perspective on how Washington policies are affecting Americans and all sectors of the economy.
He says the board will report regularly to him as he and his economic team tries to jump-start the economy and ease the financial crisis.
