Members Of 2 Ford Unions Vote On Modified Pact
DETROIT (AP) ―
Hourly workers at two Ford Motor Co. locations cast their votes this weekend on an amended contract that would cut benefits such as cost-of-living pay raises and cash bonuses.
Members of the United Auto Workers union at Ford's Sterling Axle plant approved the contract. Votes cast Sunday at Local 900 have not been tallied, said UAW Vice President Bob King.
King said voting will be complete by March 9.
Ford, which is not seeking government loans, reached an agreement with the UAW last week to amend its current contract, which also eliminates the jobs bank program and allows payments to a union-run trust for retiree health care to be paid in stock. General Motors Corp. and Chrysler LLC are seeking similar changes with their union workers.
