Corzine: E-Mail Fight Will Go To High Court
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) ―
New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine says the dispute over his e-mails will go all the way to the state Supreme Court.
Corzine, speaking Tuesday on WOR radio, predicted the fight will go the high court no matter who prevails at the appellate level.
A Superior Court judge has ordered Corzine to release e-mails he and his staff exchanged with a state worker union leader Corzine once dated.
The ruling stems from a lawsuit filed by the state Republican chairman, who questioned whether the e-mails tainted state worker contract talks.
Corzine contends the e-mails can stay private under executive privileges.
The Democratic governor says he wants the dispute resolved before the 2009 election "so people have full knowledge."
