Terrorism Victims: 2 Banks Aided Hezbollah

85 Plaintiffs Accuse American Express Bank Of NY, Lebanese-Canadian Bank Of Beirut Of Transferring Millions For Militant Group

NEW YORK (AP) ― A group of Americans, Canadians and Israelis who say Hezbollah rocket attacks injured them and killed others have sued two banks for $650 million.

The 85 plaintiffs say in Manhattan's state Supreme Court that American Express Bank of New York and Lebanese-Canadian Bank of Beirut illegally transferred millions of dollars for Hezbollah from 2004 through 2006.

The plaintiffs say Hezbollah used the money to finance rocket attacks on Israeli cities between July 12 and Aug. 14, 2006.

An AMEX spokeswoman said Monday she could not comment on pending litigation.

Lebanese-Canadian Bank did not immediately return a call for comment.
