NY Archdiocese Offers 5,000 Tickets To See Pope

Tickets For Welcome Rally Outside Of St. Patrick's Cathedral

NEW YORK (CBS) ― The Archdiocese of New York says it has 5,000 tickets available to see Pope Benedict XVI on Fifth Avenue before he enters St. Patrick's Cathedral to celebrate Mass on Saturday, April 19. The Holy Father will be traveling up Fifth Avenue from the area of the landmark cathedral to 72nd Street in the popemobile at 1:15 p.m.

The tickets are good only for the pope's welcome rally. Tickets can be obtained by filling out a form online at www.archny.org/papalvisit. Upon filling out the form on the 'Archdiocese of New York' website, the tickets will be mailed out on Monday, April 14.

On the day of the event, ticket holders must enter at Sixth Avenue and 49th Street through the security checkpoints from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. with the ticket and a government issued photo ID.

The pope is scheduled to arrive around 9 a.m. The Mass will be televised on a huge screen in front of the cathedral.
